5 Strategies to Treat Acne
By this point, almost everyone has seen the Jessica Simpson and Sean "Diddy" Combs acne infomercials that aired late at night and early in the morning. They probably believe that if a famous person trusts something, you should too. The claims made for the product seem absurd, yet for many people, it might be the ideal treatment. But it might not be suitable for everyone.
One of my children, who had recently developed a severe case of acne, attempted the infomercial treatment, but it had no effect on her. She was a young teen who suffered from acne outbreaks and urgently needed treatment. We eventually sought advice and information about acne from a nearby specialist after being unable to find a quick fix. She was given prescriptions from the doctor for a lotion and an oral pill. She followed his advice for a few weeks, and then her acne was almost completely gone. Although we are all unique, she felt that this was the best course of action. However, you might not.
I've learned the following general advice over the years:
It is preferable to use a medicated acne product or one in gel form if you have oily skin.
If you have dry skin, medicated medicines including benzoyl peroxide or salycic acid and acne cream will likely work better for you.
You may likely require a combination of oily skin gels and dry skin acne creams to apply to different places of your body depending on the skin condition there if you have both oily AND dry skin (combined type).
You may probably need less potent doses of dry, oily, or combined-type treatments if you have sensitive skin.
You should seek out individualized care from a dermatologist if you are experiencing skin pain due to acne.
Skin conditions affect so many people on a regular basis. You'd think that the acne problem would have been resolved a long time ago and that acne would be a distant memory given the developments in technology. Unfortunately, the tried-and-true confidence-killer is still alive and well.
I'm in a new scenario when it comes to unattractive imperfections now that I'm in my middle age. Now I notice that after moisturizing my face, my skin becomes a little oily and I have acne breakouts. The disappearance of acne is one of the few things I anticipate as I get older.
